The construction and development industry can be a minefield of potential legal issues. Our firm has helped many owners, contractors, builders, and development companies—from large corporations to family businesses—deal with these issues.
Bob Ziogas, Paul Beers, and Mark Feldmann, our primary construction lawyers, provide comprehensive representation from the inception of the job through completion and payment, including:
- Negotiating contracts
- Promoting compliance with safety and employment laws
- Resolving payment and performance disputes through mediation, arbitration or litigation
Bob Ziogas has represented owners/developers, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers in construction litigation, arbitration, and mediation, including construction disputes arising in the development and construction of several shopping centers. Bob is a member of the Construction Law Committee of the American Bar association. He has lectured on laws governing mechanic’s liens at seminars, and has made presentations to construction industry associations on various topics including a timely presentation on “Pay When Paid” clauses at a national annual meeting of the Professional Construction Estimators Association.
Paul Beers has devoted much of his practice to litigation, including the litigation of construction disputes. Paul recently concluded a complex multi-party suit that spanned a three-year period and resulted in a favorable multimillion-dollar resolution for our client.
Since 1973 Mark Feldmann has represented owners and contractors in construction contract negotiations and dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation. His experience includes insurance coverage for claims arising from a bridge collapse; claims for defective work arising from commercial and residential construction; perfection and enforcement of mechanic's liens and claims under payment and enforcement of bonds. Mark is a member of the Construction Law and Public Contracts Section of the Virginia State Bar.
