he became the firm’s jury trial and brief writing guru. An experienced litigator, Paul practices employment, ERISA disability claims, criminal, and construction law.
Paul frequently represents employees in litigation against employers.
He has been published in a variety of journals from the University of
Richmond Law Review to the Appalachian Journal. Paul served as lead
counsel in many of the reported decisions listed on our Reported Cases page, and he has
argued cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of
Virginia, Virginia Court of Appeals, and the Tennessee Supreme Court. Paul received his B.A. degree from Trinity College in 1980, his master’s from Columbia University in 1983, and his law degree cum laude in 1986 from Washington & Lee University, where he was a Burks Scholar. Admitted to practice in Virginia in 1986, he is a member of the Virginia Bar Association, the National Employment Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and the NAACP.
