Roanoke, Virginia – The Jefferson Center in Roanoke formally announced David I. Tenzer from the law firm of Glenn, Feldmann, Darby & Goodlatte as the new Board of Directors Chairman. Elected by the Board of Directors in June and Tenzer will begin his one year term in July 2010. He assumes the office most recently held by Ed Hall of Hall & Associates.
“We are excited to have David assume the leadership role, especially at this time of change and opportunity,” said Interim-Executive Director, John Levin. “He brings fresh ideas, extensive knowledge of the organization, a true passion for the arts and a deep understanding of the important role Jefferson Center plays in supporting arts and education in the Roanoke regional community.”
In addition to his position as a shareholder at Glenn, Feldmann, Darby & Goodlatte – Tenzer serves on the boards of the Arts Council of the Blue Ridge (Board of Directors, and former Secretary); The Sam and Marion Golden Helping Hand Foundation (Board of Directors and Treasurer); and was appointed by the Virginia Senate to serve on the Virginia Israel Advisory Board, a division of the Office of the Governor. Formerly he has served on the boards of several community organizations including but not limited to Beth Israel Synagogue (Board of Directors, Vice President and President); Roanoke Jewish Community Council; and the Art Museum of Western Virginia (now Taubman Museum of Art). An avid supporter of the local food movement and fine cuisine, he is the former food writer for The Roanoker magazine.
Jefferson Center is a non-profit performing arts center that enriches and educates Western Virginia by producing high quality performing and visual arts programs including concerts, exhibitions, lectures and artist residencies.
